Diabetes

A large proportion of people with diabetes will suffer foot problems as a result of having poor circulation and developing diabetic neuropathy. Diabetic neuropathy can cause an inability to feel pain, heat and cold, meaning that pressure points, blisters, cuts and injuries may no longer be noticed. If these minor injuries are left untreated, ulcers can develop and amputation may be required.  In diabetes, there is narrowing of the arteries leading to decreased circulation in legs and feet. This impacts the ability of wounds to heal and there is a very high risk of recurrence.

Normal shoe design can strain the foot and can be involved in development of foot lesions in people with diabetes.  Here at Tipptoes we are pleased to offer a wide range of stylish footwear and socks that can help protect your feet, prevent the development or recurrence of foot ulcers and reduce the risk of amputation.  We are also proud to announce that we are a partner of Diabetes Ireland.
